LANTANA, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach man who once worked as a handyman for a South Florida communications company is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he secretly added his former employer’s American Express card to his personal Amazon account and racked up more than $113,000 in unauthorized purchases over several months. Erwin Eugenio Dannwolf, 67, was arrested by the Lantana Police Department and charged with Grand Theft over $100,000, Dealing in Stolen Property, and False Verification of Ownership.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Dannwolf had limited access to the credit card during his time as a handyman for MKJ Communications — but only for authorized, work-related transactions. Investigators say that on February 25, 2023, long after his employment had ended, Dannwolf added the company’s American Express card to his personal Amazon account. Between February 19, 2025, and July 14, 2025, unauthorized charges totaling approximately $113,858.05 were made through that account, with purchases shipped directly to his Boynton Beach home.

The case broke open when the cardholder reported the unauthorized use and Investigator Paula G. Diaz of the Lantana Police Department subpoenaed Amazon Law Enforcement Response records. Those records tied every charge to an Amazon account registered to Dannwolf’s name, email address, and home address. In a sworn, recorded interview on October 31, 2025, Dannwolf admitted he knowingly used the card without permission, acknowledged he had no authority to add it to his personal account, and confirmed that some of the purchased items — including jewelry — were later pawned for cash.

Dannwolf was booked into the Palm Beach County jail on April 29, 2026 and later released on $30,000 bond. A court date is pending.
