BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 66-year-old Boca Raton woman is facing felony charges after Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies say she tried to evade a traffic stop before deputies allegedly discovered cocaine inside her pickup truck. According to an arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Susan Marie Kent was stopped near the intersection of Sandalfoot Boulevard and U.S. 441 on May 4 after deputies observed multiple traffic violations, including driving the wrong way and operating a vehicle with an expired registration.

Investigators say Kent did not immediately stop when deputies activated emergency lights and sirens. Instead, according to the probable cause affidavit, she continued driving through portions of Boca Raton, making multiple turns and allegedly swerving while appearing to hide or discard items inside the vehicle. Deputies say the pursuit ended in the parking lot of a Publix shopping plaza, where Kent was detained without incident.

Once stopped, deputies reportedly located suspected cocaine in multiple locations inside the truck, including the driver’s side floorboard and a small plastic bottle found on the passenger side. Authorities say field tests conducted by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office returned positive results for cocaine, with the total weight listed at approximately 2.91 grams. Deputies also reported finding open liquor bottles inside the vehicle. Kent was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and failure to obey a law enforcement officer’s order to stop.

Court records show Kent was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail following her arrest. A court date is pending.
