SCHUMAN BOOKED INTO JAIL. E-Bike Charges Now Filed As Felonies. Boca Raton’s “Vocatus” CEO Threatens BocaNewsNow.com.

UPDATE 10:06 a.m: Mitchell Schuman was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and released late Tuesday on $3,000 bond. The arrest report had not updated when we first posted our article, below. We have updated the article to reflect Schuman’s official arrest.
BY: ANDREW COLTON | Editor and Publisher | BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Hours after Lotus homeowner Mitchell Schuman was arrested, booked, and released from jail on charges filed against him in the Lotus E-Bike incident — Schuman’s PR flack inexplicably sent a threatening email to BocaNewsNow.com.

Raymond Hennessey, who runs a spin company called “Vocatus” from his home in St. Andrews Country Club, sent a nearly 600 word diatribe to us at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. In the diatribe, Hennessey — who seems to have no legal training whatsoever but uses lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of words, wrote sentences like these about our previous reporting. It was unclear if Hennessey knew that his client was jailed as he made outrageous claims and statements.
“A rudimentary understanding of criminal law (and libel law) would have provided a moment of pause for the above libelous story to be written, or, at minimum, the basic tenets of responsible journalism would have prompted (BocaNewsNow.com) to seek clarification or comment BEFORE the per se defamatory story was written. As a result, our client has suffered reputational damage from which he is entitled to substantial remedy. We would note that Mr. Schuman is not a public figure and is therefore not subject to that protection.”

“As you know now, we acknowledge Mr. Schuman is facing one felony count for the instance of holding the phone of the alleged victim. As the formal statement below, which we expect to be printed in its entirety, suggests, that incident happened after aggression from the alleged victim. Indeed, as (BocaNewsNow.com) has dutifully reported, this alleged victim has antagonized other people at other clubs and, according to police reports that BocaNewsNow has brought to light, the preponderance of witness statements for both events shows without question that the alleged victim was the antagonist and has caused significant property damage.”
Ironically, the email was transmitted hours after Schuman was released from jail and just before the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts system publicly published the very reporting that we broke days ago — the facts Hennessy accused of us misreporting. As of 8:39 a.m. Wednesday, records show that the misdemeanor charges of Battery, Theft, and Criminal Mischief against Mitchell Schuman were transferred from a misdemeanor case to a felony case. The images below confirm the reporting that PR Flack Hennessey claims is wrong. Look at line 13. Then look at the new case, below.

The only charge against Schuman that was dropped was one count of battery. However, there are now four charges against him which potentially carry prison time. A warrant was issued for Schuman’s arrest last week. He was booked into jail on Tuesday mid-day, then released several hours later. Bond was not set for the additional counts. By posting bond, he avoided the need to appear in court Wednesday.

In his midnight diatribe, Schuman’s PR Flack Hennessey also accused us of not seeking comment from Schuman’s Attorney Matt Shafran. That’s not true. Even if Shafran did not receive our request, we receive calls and emails all day long. BocaNewsNow.com is easily reached if someone has something to say.
Mitchell Schuman is accused of throwing a water bottle at a child riding an e-bike in the West Boca Raton community of Lotus back on April 3rd. He’s also accused of taking the boy’s cell phone and not permitting him to call his parents or police. Other adults took part in the incident which was captured on video. The other adults have not been charged at this time. The child, who Schuman allegedly confronted months earlier for performing wheelies in Lotus — then texted about it — had another e-bike issue last week in the neighboring community of Seven Bridges. No charges have been filed in that case where Seven Bridges security — and other adults — called police. No one threw anything at the boy.
Here is the official statement Schuman’s PR Flack Hennessey wanted published: “While there has been significant public reporting surrounding these allegations, it is important to remember that allegations are not evidence and that every person is entitled to the full protections of our justice system. Our client intends to vigorously defend against these charges, and we are confident that a complete and fair presentation of the facts will provide important context that has not yet been made public. As we continue to investigate the matter, additional information has come to light that raises serious questions and reinforces the importance of allowing the legal process not public speculation to run its course. We look forward to presenting our client’s defenses in court and ensuring that all facts are fully and fairly considered.”
