BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Just hours after Lotus homeowner Mitchell Schuman was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on felony charges related to his alleged attack on a child riding an e-bike in the West Boca Raton community, another man seen physically restraining the boy on video was also booked into jail. Ari Brooks was officially arrested and charged with robbery and battery.
Wrote prosecutors: “Brooks is observed on multiple occasions pulling (the child victim) away from (redacted) and restraining him against his will… Brooks is observed purposely witholding (the child victim’s) phone and making no effort to return his property.”
BocaNewsNow.com has learned that Brooks had been under investigation since police and prosecutors started reviewing video of the April 3rd incident posted by BocaNewsNow.com. Brooks is seemingly seen restraining the child multiple times and preventing him from accessing his cell phone. Depriving someone of a communication device in Florida is a crime. Touching someone who does not wish to be touched is also a crime.
Mitchell Schuman and Ari Brooks turned themselves into the Palm Beach County Jail at various times on Tuesday and Wednesday. We have learned that warrants were issued to all police departments in Florida for Mitchell Schuman and then Ari Brooks. It is unclear as of Thursday afternoon if the other adults seen and heard on the video are also being considered for charges.
