BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Residents in Woodfield Hunt Club are saying officers with the Boca Raton Police Department did “great work” early Wednesday morning when they captured three people involved with an apparent burglary in progress. Boca PD used its drone, summoned the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, and worked fast on the ground to take the men into custody.

Police say Zymell Horace Buddy Cheatham, 22, was arrested at approximately 12:24 a.m. after cops found him in the bushes near the apparent burglary scene. It’s believed he traveled from Fort Lauderdale to burglarize the occupied home in the 4000 block of Woodfield Boulevard.

According to the probable cause affidavit and information provided to BocaNewsNow.com by homeowners, police were called when a Woodfield Hunt homeonwer apparently believed that at least one unknown male had entered the garage area of his home without permission. A second witness told officers he had observed three suspects walking through his enclosed backyard and provided surveillance video of the men.

Cheatham was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit. Two other suspects were also cuffed — Javamos Lee Johnson was apprehended with the assistance of a K9 unit, and a juvenile was taken into custody without incident. It is unclear if anything was ultiamtely taken. Police were on the scene within miutes.

Cheatham faces charges of Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling, Traveling Across County Lines with Intent to Commit Burglary, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Charges are pending against the other suspects.
