THE BIG PICTURE

Palm Beach County officials say the relentless wave of construction is a long-overdue investment in aging roads, bridges, drainage, and traffic systems. For drivers, it means another week of orange barrels, unexpected lane drops, police-controlled intersections, and rerouted traffic from Boca Raton to Belle Glade. Allow extra travel time, know your alternate routes, and when in doubt, just leave earlier — or stay home.
