According to a Boca Raton Police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, affidavit, 53-year-old Ashot Nersisyan of the 8300 block of Trent Court met his wife at a Starbucks near 5250 Town Center Circle on May 18 to discuss their divorce. A police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com suggests the conversation took a troubling turn after she told him she had recently obtained a restraining order against him following an earlier incident in Fort Lauderdale. The woman told officers Nersisyan followed her out of the coffee shop and blocked the open driver’s door of her blue Volkswagen SUV so she could not leave.

Video the woman showed officers allegedly depicts Nersisyan refusing to move, then throwing his coffee at her before slamming her door shut and walking back to his black Honda CR-V. Officers noted she smelled strongly of coffee and that the inside of her vehicle — driver’s seat and dashboard — was wet with it. As Nersisyan pulled away, police say, he rear-ended a black Nissan Kicks that was stopped at a stop sign. The driver of that car, an independent witness who had also watched the coffee toss from the parking lot, told officers Nersisyan got out, glanced at the damage, declared there wasn’t any, and drove off before she could respond.

Nersisyan returned to the scene later after a stop at a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office substation and asked to call a friend to translate. He denied throwing coffee and claimed his wife had thrown it on him, though officers noted his vehicle and clothing also smelled of coffee and the independent witness contradicted his account. He admitted hitting the Nissan but said the two drivers had agreed there was no damage — something the other driver flatly denied.

Nersisyan was taken to Boca Raton Regional Hospital for evaluation and then booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on misdemeanor battery and leaving the scene charges.
