BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Delray Beach Police Chief Hunter is lacing up his sneakers and inviting the community to join him. The Delray Beach Police Department is hosting a free community run/walk on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with a meet-and-greet kicking off at 7 a.m. and the run/walk stepping off at 8 a.m. sharp.

The 1.4-mile route begins and ends at Libby Wesley Park on West Atlantic Avenue. Organizers will close a portion of Atlantic Avenue and Pineapple Grove to traffic for the event, creating what they’re calling a safe and festive route through two of downtown Delray Beach’s most popular corridors. Route details will be provided after registration is confirmed.

The event is free and open to all Delray Beach residents and supporters, though registration is required. Free parking will be available at several nearby locations including the Sands Lot at 116 NW 5th Ave., the Fire Station at 501 W. Atlantic Ave., Frog Alley at 250 SW 4th Ave., the Library Lot at 100 W. Atlantic Ave., the Tennis Center at 201 W. Atlantic Ave., and City Hall at 100 NW 1st Ave.

Organizers say the morning is about more than just putting in miles. The goal is to bring neighbors and their police department together in a relaxed setting built around transparency, trust, and community pride. Registration is available here.
