Jessica Piltz, 38, is charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, according to a probable cause affidavit filed June 8 in Palm Beach County.
Palm Springs Police say the incident took place on June 7th at Wood Haven Plaza, 4068 Forest Hill Boulevard, where a family had just finished dinner at McKenna’s Place. According to the arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the group was transferring a child’s belongings between vehicles in the parking lot when Piltz, who was backing out of a nearby space, stopped her dark blue SUV and began yelling at them. Witnesses told police she was asked repeatedly to leave, stopped a second time to continue the verbal confrontation, then exited the plaza onto Kirk Road.
Investigators say Piltz then stopped her SUV in the center turn lane of Kirk Road, got out, and continued shouting at the group — allegedly telling one of them to “come get it.” According to the affidavit, witnesses watched her retrieve a black semi-automatic handgun from the vehicle, insert a magazine, charge the weapon, and wave it side to side at the group before firing a single round in their direction. One witness told police a young child on the passenger side of Piltz’s own vehicle was telling her to stop. Police say Piltz, who appeared intoxicated according to one witness, then fled north on Kirk Road.
All four adult witnesses identified Piltz through a photo array, and the affidavit states each had a clear, unobstructed view of her with the firearm.
