SCAM ALERT: We suggest that you do not enter into an agreement with a roofing company that has no website and sends unsolicited texts seeking work.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The apparent scams being run by roofing companies — or companies trying to get business for roofing companies– continue to be a problem in South Palm Beach County. Another scam appears to be underway Thursday under the name “FR Roofing.”

BocaNewsNow.com received text messages from 786-947-5642 mid-day on Thursday. The unsolicited text from a number we’ve never seen told us that someone would be in the area working on roofs and asked if we’d like an estimate.

In an effort to find out more about the apparent scam, we responded with “Maybe. What company is this?” After a few minutes, the response: “I’m with FR Roofing. We’re a licensed roofing company across Delray Beach.”

Here’s the thing: There is no FR Roofing registered with the Florida Secretary of State. There is a similarly named company but it seems to be unrelated to this text message. When we asked for a website to learn more about the company, the messages stopped. That’s a huge red flag.

PBSO, local police, and consumer agencies nationwide constantly remind consumers that you should never do business that starts with an unsolicited text message or with a company that seems shady. An unsolicited text — from a roofing company with no website — seems to be extremely shady. If you have been victimized by a business or company that’s not what they said they were, call your local police department. We also remind you that it is illegal to send unsolicited business texts in Florida.

  1. Do they ever catch and prosecute these scammers ?
Everyone including myself have been subjected to this harassment even though my number is registered on the national do not call list as well as the Florida do not call list.
