Nicholas Leonard Ivey, 29, faces charges of Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence in the death of 76-year-old Patricia Ann DiBella. Investigators say Ivey admitted on February 1, 2026, to killing DiBella, who had opened her home to him at her residence at 5090 Fairway’s Circle in Vero Beach. The following day, family members requested a welfare check, which led deputies to the scene and resulted in Ivey’s arrest. He had been held on related charges since February before being formally charged with murder on June 3, 2026, following an extensive investigation.
“I am proud of the work our investigations team did to bring justice to Patricia DiBella and her family,” Sheriff Eric Flowers said. “No one should lose their life at the hands of someone they trusted and welcomed into their home. I encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence to contact law enforcement.” Ivey is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail without bond.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the community that domestic violence can take many forms and can affect anyone. Anyone in danger is urged to call 911, contact SafeSpace at 772-288-7023, or reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
