BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An 8-year-old Boynton Beach boy died Monday evening after he wandered into a neighbor’s backyard and into a swimming pool, according to police. Boynton Beach officers were called to the 300 block of Boynton Bay Circle around 5 p.m. on Monday after family members reported that Javonte Rahming had left the home and could not be found.

As officers searched the neighborhood, a Real Time Crime Center operator flying a department drone spotted a motionless child in a pool in the 1900 block of NE 2nd Lane, a property near the Boynton Bay neighborhood with no connection to the Rahming family.

Officers rushed to the home, pulled the child from the water and began life-saving efforts. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police identified him as Javonte Rahming.

Detectives reviewing surveillance video from the property where the pool is located found that Javonte was alone when he climbed into the fenced backyard without the homeowners’ knowledge. The footage showed him jumping into the pool at around 4 p.m., roughly an hour before he was found.

Police said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and no foul play is suspected, though the investigation remains active.
