BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Florida Atlantic University researchers want to hear from breast cancer survivors who have noticed their memory or focus just isn’t what it used to be. Scientists from FAU’s Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion and Department of Psychology are recruiting volunteers for a study testing whether exercise paired with a safe, non-invasive brain stimulation technique can sharpen memory, concentration, and physical function after cancer treatment.
The study is open to anyone diagnosed with stages 0 through III breast cancer who has finished primary treatment, whether that meant surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or some combination of the three. Researchers are specifically looking for survivors who are not currently in a regular exercise routine and who noticed changes in their concentration, focus, or memory once treatment wrapped up. It’s a common but often overlooked side effect, and FAU wants to find out if a structured intervention can help reverse it.
Participation starts with a baseline visit where researchers measure cognition, physical function, physical activity levels, and body composition, along with surveys on overall well-being and quality of life. From there, volunteers move into four weeks of supervised aerobic exercise combined with cognition training sessions. The study wraps up with post-intervention testing to see what, if anything, changed.
