BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Local companies are lacing up for a friendly fight this month, and the prize is bragging rights and a championship belt. Boca Helping Hands is calling on area businesses to take part in its Third Annual Corporate Challenge throughout July, asking workplaces to host food drives that will help restock pantry shelves with non-perishable items.
Here’s how it works: whichever company collects the most food by weight before July 31 wins the title of 2026 Corporate Challenge Champion in its category — and takes home an actual boxing-style champion’s belt. Companies compete in one of three weight classes based on how many people they employ, so a small office isn’t going toe-to-toe with a corporate giant.
Boca Helping Hands CEO Andrew Hagen said the timing matters. “Over the summer, demand for food stays the same, while food donations decline significantly because many people are on vacation and the snowbirds go back up north for the season,” Hagen said. “That’s what makes the Corporate Challenge so important. It enables Boca Helping Hands to provide food to people in need in our community while bringing local businesses together in a friendly competition in support of a great cause.”
Eight organizations threw their hats in the ring for last year’s inaugural event, with ADMA Biologics claiming the Heavyweight Championship, Woolbright Development taking the Middleweight title, and SouthState Bank winning the Lightweight class. This year’s weight classes break down by employee count: Bantamweight covers companies with 50 employees or fewer, Middleweight is 51 to 100 employees, and Heavyweight is 101 employees or more.
Businesses interested in stepping into the ring can contact Kori Ernst at Kori@BocaHelpingHands.org or by calling (561) 417-0913, ext. 205.
