CAN’T SPIN IT: Stephen Rodriguez Busted For Beer.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton public relations professional with “Granny Nannies” was arrested Thursday night after police say he was caught walking through a downtown plaza drinking a beer in the open, in violation of the city’s open container ordinance.
Stephen Cosgrove Rodriguez, 37, was taken into custody just before 9:30 p.m. near 2202 N. Federal Highway, outside Living Green Cafe. A Boca Raton Police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com says two officers were on foot patrol in the area when they spotted Rodriguez walking westbound through the plaza with an alcoholic beverage in hand. When officers approached, Rodriguez set the beer — a 25-ounce can of Bud Light — down on the ground, police said.
Rodriguez was apparently identified through his Medical Marijuana Identification Card and Florida driver’s license. He was arrested and charged with violating Boca Raton City Ordinance Section 4-4, which bars anyone from drinking alcohol above one percent alcohol by volume on public streets, sidewalks, parks or beaches, or outside the confines of a retail establishment. Records list Rodriguez’s occupation as public relations, with an employer address at Granny Nannies in Boca Raton. Granny Nannies provides home healthcare for, well, grannies.
Rodriguez was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on $250 bond and released. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13th. We’ll let you know if he issues a press release.
Open container laws are a relic of prohibition era progressivism exclusive to the United States. Unless he was doing unlawful while drinking, why is this such an issue? Enforce laws like bringing dogs into grocery stores instead.
Boca has nothing else to do, so they kill time with a bullshit arrest. But then again, if the man was under the influence and was going to get into a car to drive, they might have done the right thing
Exactly, and it should’ve been a ticket not an arrest.
Seems like overkill in this time and day. I think there should be a lot of other issues these officials could concentrate on besides a guy drinking a beer. #ww2widow
This is not newsworthy.
This is ridiculous! He should have received a warning or a possible ticket. To arrest this man is completely overkill. Boca police should be ashamed of themselves!!!
I hope he can still vote and own a gun!
so hoe does the English pub get away with it when England plays?
This is ridiculous! Write him a ticket and let him go on his way. That’s what you do when somebody runs a red light and that’s a lot more dangerous to this!
Going to jail just for drinking a beer outside, while criminal gangs and druggies are left alone roaming and terrorizing the neighborhood.
