Another week, another list of traffic problems for Palm Beach County.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — We are calling this “Cone Season” and it shows no signs of letting up. FDOT’s latest construction and lane-closure rundown makes it clear that your commute is going to be slow — very slow — in many parts of Palm Beach County. With thanks to FDOT, here’s a look at what will really annoy you over the next several days:

Interstate 95

Boynton Beach Boulevard Interchange ($64 million/Early 2029)

This 2.354-mile overhaul of the I-95/S.R. 804 interchange includes widening the Boynton Beach Boulevard bridge, new turn lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks, wrong-way detection devices and new LED lighting. It’s a long haul — completion isn’t expected until early 2029.

  • The I-95 southbound outside deceleration lane approaching the Boynton Beach Boulevard exit is closed through late 2026 for widening.
  • Up to three lanes of I-95 may close in each direction nightly, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday (a fourth as needed) for bridge and ramp work.
  • The I-95 northbound and southbound entrance/exit ramps at Boynton Beach Boulevard may each close overnight, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., with detours via Woolbright Road/U.S. 1/Gateway Boulevard/Congress Avenue — only one ramp closes at a time.
  • Eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard from west of NW 8th Street to east of W. Industrial Avenue is down to two through lanes through late 2026, with barrier wall in place.
  • Boynton Beach Boulevard between Old Boynton Road and NW 3rd Avenue may see one lane closed nightly in each direction, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.; single-lane closures both directions are permitted only Friday and Saturday nights.
  • The westbound turn lane to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp may close overnight, detouring via W. Industrial Avenue.
  • NW 7th Street at Boynton Beach Boulevard is closed through summer 2026 for drainage work; detour via NW 1st Avenue and NW 8th Street.

The Big Picture

Nothing on this list is new territory for Palm Beach County drivers — I-95, the Turnpike, Atlantic Avenue and A1A have all been under some form of construction for months, and most of it stretches well into 2027, 2028 and even 2029. The common thread this week is overnight lane closures clustered between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., so daytime commutes are largely unaffected outside a handful of daytime work zones on U.S. 441, U.S. 1 and I-95 near Forest Hill Boulevard. Budget extra time after dark, especially around the Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange and the Beeline Highway corridor, where the closures are heaviest and the detours are the most convoluted.
