PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palm Beach County father and his two young sons are dead after their pickup truck flipped into a canal Tuesday morning, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say 48-year-old Joel Rodriguez Roa was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado east in the 1200 block of Gator Boulevard just after 7 a.m. when he lost control for reasons that remain under investigation. The truck crossed into the oncoming westbound lane, swerved back, and began spinning clockwise before rotating across the eastbound lane and off the south side of the road.
The pickup then overturned into a canal, coming to rest upside down and fully submerged, deputies said. Rodriguez Roa and his two sons — identified as Joel Rodriguez, 10, and Jacob Rodriguez, 5 — were all pronounced dead at the scene.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says next of kin have been notified. No charges had been filed as of Thursday, and investigators have not released additional details about what caused the driver to lose control.
