BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man wounded in a May shooting outside a Boca Raton restaurant is now suing the business, claiming lax security let a gunman open fire on its patio. Michael F. Bogdan and his wife, Twiggy Bogdan, filed a lawsuit Thursday in Palm Beach County Circuit Court against 187 SE Mizner LLC, doing business as The Standard Cuisine & Cocktails, seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
The lawsuit stems from the May 25 shooting at the Mizner Boulevard restaurant that left Bogdan and a second victim wounded. As BocaNewsNow.com previously reported, Boca Raton police arrested Christian Joseph Ippolito, a former Olympic Heights High School football player, on two counts of attempted second-degree murder after surveillance video showed him pulling a handgun and firing during a confrontation on the restaurant’s patio. Bogdan was shot in the right leg and has since been released from medical care.
In the complaint, Bogdan’s attorneys argue the restaurant had no visible security on or near the patio that night and failed to prevent a foreseeable act of violence. The suit accuses The Standard of failing to properly patrol the property, leaving areas poorly lit, and failing to screen who was allowed onto the premises, despite what the filing describes as the restaurant’s knowledge of prior security breaches. Bogdan’s attorney, Crane Johnstone of Schlesinger Law Offices in Fort Lauderdale, is representing the couple.
Twiggy Bogdan has also filed a loss of consortium claim, arguing her husband’s injuries cost her his companionship, support and services. The couple is demanding a jury trial. The Standard Cuisine & Cocktails had not filed a response as of Friday.
