PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Belle Glade man has died more than a week after he was struck by an SUV while walking in the middle of State Road 80, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in a statement issued Sunday afternoon to BocaNewsNow.com.
Deputies say the crash happened just before midnight on July 9 in the 2200 block of North Main Street. Investigators say 26-year-old Stephon Le’Von Jordan was walking in the inside southbound travel lane when he was hit by a southbound 2003 Ford Expedition driven by Valry Jean Grandison, 43, of Belle Glade. The impact struck the front left of the SUV, sending Jordan airborne before he came to rest in the center median, deputies say.
Jordan was flown by TraumaHawk to St. Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries. Grandison, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not hurt. The Sheriff’s Office says Jordan ultimately succumbed to his injuries on July 17, and was pronounced dead at 3:31 p.m. at VITAS Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Care.
The case remains under investigation by PBSO’s Traffic Division. No charges have been filed.
