Ryan McGowan Shot, Killed In Deerfield Beach.
DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Deerfield Beach man is behind bars, accused of gunning down another man during an argument Sunday night.
BocaNewsNow.com has learned that Broward 911 Dispatchers received a call around 7:12 p.m., reporting a shooting near the 5100 block of East Lakes Drive. BSO district deputies got there fast and found an adult male, identified as Ryan McGowan, suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately began rendering aid, and paramedics rushed McGowan to a local hospital, where he later died. The suspect, identified as Mauro Lopez, stuck around the scene and was detained by deputies. BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide units responded to investigate.
Detectives say preliminary information points to an earlier argument between Lopez and McGowan at a different location. Investigators say Lopez then ran into McGowan outside a residence in the 5100 block of East Lakes Drive and shot him multiple times.
Lopez was arrested and booked into BSO’s Main Jail. He faces one count of second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.
