POMPANO BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on a sidewalk in Pompano Beach Tuesday afternoon.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded shortly before 1 p.m. to reports of a crash in the 1000 block of South Federal Highway. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue also responded to the scene.
Investigators say a driver struck the pedestrian while they were on a sidewalk. Deputies pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries.
BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Southbound South Federal Highway is closed between Southeast Ninth Street and Southeast 12th Street while the investigation continues, and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
