While most private schools in the area adhere to a more traditional “northeast” schedule, the first day for public school students is August 10th.
Teachers start earlier — August 3rd. They have a week of planning and prep before students start the school year on the second Monday of the month.
Students will go to school for 20 days before having their first day off — September 7th. Then nine days later they’ll have another day off — September 21st. The theme continues: 14 days later students are off again. October 12th is a teacher planning day. So is November 3rd.
Wrapping up the first half of the school year, public school students off November 23rd through November 27th, then December 21st through January 4th, 2027. School resumes on January 5th, 2027 after the holiday break.
