BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County’s Southern Region Water Reclamation Facility just landed one of the wastewater industry’s top honors. The Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department announced its Boynton Beach plant earned the Peak Performance “Platinum” award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, recognizing five straight years of perfect compliance scores.
The Platinum designation is the association’s highest honor, reserved for utilities that hit 100% compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System — the EPA’s benchmark for clean water standards — for five consecutive years. Palm Beach County’s facility is one of only three in Florida to reach that level, and it’s the only utility in South Florida to do it.
NACWA is considered the leading voice nationally on clean water advocacy, weighing in on legislation, regulation and legal issues affecting utilities. Every year, the group singles out top-performing wastewater agencies for recognition, and Palm Beach County has now made that list five years running.
The Southern Region facility runs around the clock, seven days a week, staffed by a team of wastewater treatment operators and maintenance workers. County officials say the award reflects the utility’s broader commitment to water reclamation and environmental stewardship in the region.
