LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a Brightline train early Sunday in Lake Worth Beach, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office which issued a statement to BocaNewsNow.com Monday morning.

The crash happened just after midnight at the railroad crossing at North G Street and Lake Avenue. Investigators say 47-year-old Martin Gonzalez was walking west across the tracks when he stepped into the path of a northbound Brightline train and was struck by the front left side of the engine.

Gonzalez, who lived on North G Street in Lake Worth Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. The train, engine number 105, was being operated by engineer Nicholas Anthony Rando. No one aboard the train was hurt, and deputies say alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role.

The Sheriff’s Office says Gonzalez’s next of kin were notified Monday. The crash remains under investigation by PBSO Traffic Division Investigator Juan Pinzon. No charges have been filed.
