Palm Beach County Legislative Affairs Director Alessandro Marchesani recently visited the Public Safety Department’s Animal Care and Control Division (PSDACC) for a firsthand look at how the care center operates. He was joined by state Reps. Emily Gregory and Rob Long, along with several legislative and district aides representing members of the Florida House of Representatives, including Jevonte “Tae” Edmonds, Peggy Gossett-Seidman and Kelly Skidmore.
The group toured the facility to learn about the critical services PSDACC provides, including animal housing, adoptions, foster and rescue programs, public safety initiatives, and the daily work of caring for homeless animals across Palm Beach County. It was during that tour that one dog in particular caught Marchesani’s attention — and his heart.
His name is Luigi. By the time the tour wrapped up, Luigi had a new home. “This is exactly the kind of outcome we hope every visitor experiences,” PSDACC said in a statement sent to BocaNewsNow.com. “It’s a true win-win that demonstrates the incredible impact adoption can have on both people and pets.” PSDACC said it welcomes the chance to host elected officials and legislative staff, noting the visits offer valuable insight into the challenges and successes of running an open-admission municipal animal care center and reinforce the value of community partnerships in achieving lifesaving outcomes.
PSDACC is encouraging anyone thinking about adding a pet to their family to visit the care center and meet the animals waiting for a second chance. Like Luigi, officials say, every animal at the center has its own story — and every adoption has the power to change two lives forever.
