The child struck by lightning was rushed to Delray Medical Center.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A young child was struck by lightning around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. BocaNewsNow.com has learned the child is suffering a major cardiac issue as a result.

Fire Rescue rushed to the scene that we are only identifying right now as being in unincorporated Boynton Beach. It is unclear what the child was doing when lightning struck.

We are only identifying the child as being under age 10. The child was rushed to Delray Medical Center a short time ago.

We will update when we learn more about the situation. Major storms are moving through South Palm Beach County Sunday afternoon.
