Between the Florida Department of Transportation’s list of 19 major highway overhauls and the county’s own 35-page Traffic Division report listing 158 more, there are now more active construction zones in this county than there are people who actually use their turn signals. From I-95 ramp closures in Boynton Beach to FPL crews digging up side streets from Jupiter to Boca Raton, here is every single closure, detour, and “periodic lane closure” (translation: pack a lunch) hitting the roads from August 24 through August 30, 2026 — organized by area so you don’t have to read the government’s paperwork yourself.

Major FDOT Highway Projects

Interstate 95 & Boynton Beach

The big one: the S.R. 9/I-95 at Boynton Beach Boulevard Interchange Improvements Project, a $64 million, 2.354-mile overhaul that started in August 2025 and won’t wrap until early 2029, continues to reshape the interchange with new turn lanes, ramp widening, and a bridge replacement.

Up to three lanes of I-95 may close in each direction nightly, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday, plus a possible fourth lane as needed.
The I-95 northbound and southbound deceleration lanes/shoulders approaching Boynton Beach Boulevard are closed through late 2026.
Full overnight ramp closures (9 p.m.–6 a.m., Sunday–Friday) are possible on all four Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange ramps, though only one ramp may close at a time — expect detours via Woolbright Road, Gateway Boulevard, U.S. 1, or Congress Avenue.
Eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard remains down to two lanes through late 2026 near NW 8th Street/W. Industrial Avenue, with a single-lane closure in each direction permitted Friday and Saturday nights from Old Boynton Road to NW 3rd Avenue.
The westbound turn lane to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp may also close nightly.

Also nearby: the S.R. 805/U.S. 1/North Dixie Highway and I-95 Lighting Project ($2.5 million, Lake Worth Beach) has one lane closing intermittently between 11th Avenue North and the West Palm Beach Canal, 8 p.m.–4 a.m., through Thursday, Aug. 27. I-95 itself is fully open in this segment.

Southern Palm Beach County (Boca Raton, Highland Beach, Delray Beach)

S.R. 5/U.S. 1 Lane Repurposing and Resurfacing (Boca Raton) — $6.3 million project turning a travel lane into bike lanes and wider sidewalks from Camino Real to Mizner Boulevard. Inside lanes between SE 8th and SE 5th Streets close continuously for three weeks starting Monday, Aug. 24.
S.R. 806/Atlantic Avenue Reconstruction (Delray Beach/Boynton Beach) — the $26 million widening of Atlantic Avenue from U.S. 441 to the Turnpike continues with weekday striping and signalization closures on U.S. 441, Atlantic Avenue, and Smith Sundy Road, 7 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Central Palm Beach County (Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Royal Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach)

S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard RRR — all lanes currently open.
S.R. 5/U.S. 1 RRR (West Palm Beach) — intermittent lane closures between Belvedere Road and Okeechobee Boulevard, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., Aug. 24–28, for concrete and electrical work; the outside northbound lane from Barcelona to Acacia Road stays closed through summer.
S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard, Lake Avenue to Ibis Way (Lake Worth Beach/Palm Beach) — daily and nightly flagging-operation lane closures continue for sod installation and final inspections.
S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard, Emerald Beach Way to Royal Palm Way (Town of Palm Beach) — an $8.2 million streetscape project with rolling nighttime intersection closures for signal conduit work: Hammon Avenue/Golfview Road (Aug. 23–25), then Royal Palm Way (Aug. 25–27), then the south side of Royal Palm Way (Aug. 27), each with its own detour via Ocean Boulevard side streets. Northern Palm Beach County (Riviera Beach, Lake Park, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach, Jupiter, Tequesta)

U.S. 1/S.R. 5 Roadway Improvements (Riviera Beach/Lake Park/North Palm Beach) — $13.4 million project; one outside or inside lane closes 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and again 9 p.m.–7 a.m., Aug. 24–28, between 59th Street and Northlake Boulevard. The sidewalk along northbound U.S. 1 near the cruise terminal is closed through September.
S.R. 710/Beeline Highway Reconstruction (Palm Beach Gardens/Riviera Beach/West Palm Beach) — the massive $148.2 million widening from Northlake Boulevard to Blue Heron Boulevard brings a long list of daily lane closures on Beeline Highway itself plus Jog Road, Haverhill Road, Military Trail, Northlake Boulevard, and Florida’s Turnpike, mostly 7 a.m.–6 p.m. weekdays. The northwest Beeline ramp to eastbound Northlake Boulevard stays closed until winter, and the southeast left turn to Blue Heron Boulevard is closed around-the-clock through September, detouring via Military Trail.
U.S. 1/S.R. 5 Earman River Bridge Replacement (North Palm Beach) — $13.7 million bridge rebuild; southbound traffic remains shifted onto the northbound bridge through spring 2027, with the southbound outside lane intermittently closed 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. daily. The Earman River channel is closed to boaters through spring 2027.

Western Palm Beach County (Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, South Bay, Belle Glade, Pahokee, Canal Point)
