Police Say Death May Have Occurred At Different Scene…
POMPANO BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man is dead after a hit-and-run crash in Pompano Beach, and detectives are still trying to figure out exactly where it happened. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
Deputies were called shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, to the 700 block of Southwest 10th Drive, where someone reported a person lying in a grass swale. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld. Detectives say his injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Here’s the twist: investigators aren’t convinced the crash actually happened where the victim was found. Detectives combed the area and say the collision may have occurred somewhere else entirely, meaning the driver — and possibly the vehicle involved — could be linked to a different location altogether.
