TRAFFIC ALERT: As Labor Day Approaches, Driving Will Be Chore

I-95 Ramp Closures. A1A Closures. Woodfield Country Club Selfishness. Boca Raton. Boynton Beach. Delray Beach. Wellington. Palm Beach County. Bad. Bad. Bad.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you are driving anywhere in Palm Beach County as Labor Day weekend approaches, read this first. FDOT plans to close I-95 ramps at Boynton Beach Boulevard overnight, shut down entire A1A intersections in the Town of Palm Beach, and keep a stretch of State Road 80 in the Glades closed for railroad repairs. That from FDOT. As for Palm Beach County: the official list hasn’t been updated, but we do know that Clint Moore Road will continue to be a disaster as Woodfield Country Club continues to make the community deal with its renovations by reducing traffic flow between the Turnpike and Jog Road. Separately on Clint Moore, FPL is installing new poles closer to 441.

Here is every closure on the list for August 28 through September 4, city by city.

Boca Raton

U.S. 1 Lane Repurposing, Camino Real to NE 8th Street

The $6.3 million downtown rebuild started August 20. It kills the 11-foot outside lane between Camino Real and SE Mizner Boulevard to make room for 7-foot separated bike lanes and 11-foot sidewalks, adds a signalized mid-block crosswalk south of Plaza Real, and puts a second northbound left-turn lane at Camino Real. Completion is late 2027. This week:

• Northbound and southbound U.S. 1 between SE 8th Street and SE 5th Street/Mizner Boulevard have the inside lanes closed continuously through Sunday, Sept. 13, for widening.
• One northbound and one southbound lane at U.S. 1 and Camino Real close intermittently, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3, for signalization work.
• One lane closes intermittently between Camino Real and NE 8th Street/NE Mizner Boulevard, 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31 through Friday morning, Sept. 4, for tree relocation.

Delray Beach And West Delray

Atlantic Avenue Reconstruction, U.S. 441 to the Turnpike

The $26 million widening began in January 2025 and runs through summer 2028. Atlantic goes from two lanes to four west of Lyons, and from four to six between Lyons and the Turnpike. Most of this week is final striping, which means daytime lane closures.

U.S. 441/S.R. 7 impacts, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday:

• One northbound lane from Rio Grande Avenue to just south of Atlantic Avenue.
• One northbound lane from just north of Atlantic Avenue to Tivoli Isles Boulevard.
• One southbound lane from Tivoli Isles Boulevard to just north of Atlantic Avenue.
• One southbound lane from just south of Atlantic Avenue to just south of 105th Drive South.
• One eastbound turn lane on Atlantic Avenue from the Wawa back entrance to S.R. 7/U.S. 441, for signalization.
• The northbound sidewalk between Atlantic Avenue and Saturnia Isles Boulevard is closed. Pedestrians are detoured to the southbound sidewalk. Motorists exiting Rio Grande are directed south.

Atlantic Avenue impacts, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday:

• One eastbound lane from Lyons Road to the Turnpike.
• One westbound lane from Lyons Road to the Turnpike.
• One lane in each direction between U.S. 441/S.R. 7 and Lyons Road.

Smith Sundy Road: One lane in each direction between the Storage Zone gate and Atlantic Avenue, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Flaggers will direct traffic.

Boynton Beach

I-95 At Boynton Beach Boulevard Interchange

This is the big one. The $64 million interchange project runs 2.354 miles and does not finish until early 2029. It widens the Boynton Beach Boulevard bridge over I-95 for dual left turns, adds ramp turn lanes, adds a third westbound through lane at the interchange, and rebuilds sidewalks, lighting and signals from Old Boynton Road to NW 3rd Avenue.

I-95 mainline:

• One lane may close in each direction starting at 8 p.m., with up to three lanes closed in each direction from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. A fourth lane may close overnight in each direction as needed.
• The northbound outside deceleration lane and shoulder approaching the exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard is closed through late 2026.
• The southbound outside deceleration lane and shoulder approaching the exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard is closed through late 2026.

Ramps: Portions of the entrance and exit ramps and their shoulders are closed behind temporary barrier wall, and traffic is slightly shifted. Additional lanes may close nightly, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday.

Full ramp closures, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. Only one ramp at the interchange is permitted to close at a time.

• Northbound I-95 exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard. Detour: northbound exit to Woolbright Road, east to U.S. 1, north to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
• Southbound I-95 exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard. Detour: southbound exit to Gateway Boulevard, east to U.S. 1, south to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
• Northbound I-95 entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard. Detour: east to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then north to Gateway Boulevard.
• Southbound I-95 entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard. Detour: east to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then south to Woolbright Road.

Boynton Beach Boulevard itself:

• Eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard is reduced from three through lanes to two from NW 8th Street to east of W. Industrial Avenue, with temporary barrier wall in the outside lane. Traffic barrels just west of NW 8th Street start the taper. East of W. Industrial Avenue traffic returns to the original configuration. This pattern holds through late 2026.
• The northbound outside turn lane of NW 8th Street at Boynton Beach Boulevard is closed, leaving one lane for right, left and through movements.
• One lane in each direction may close from Old Boynton Road to NW 3rd Avenue, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., nightly. A single lane closure in each direction is permitted only on Friday and Saturday nights.
• The westbound turn lane to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp may close, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. Detour via W. Industrial Avenue to U-turn back eastbound.

Boynton Beach Boulevard Resurfacing, Orchid Grove Trail To Palm Isles Drive

The $2.7 million resurfacing began January 22 and wraps this fall. All lanes are open this week.

Ocean Ridge

A1A/Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway Water Main Work

Around-the-clock lane closures from just south of Corrine Street to just north of Ocean Avenue continue through late 2026 for town water main improvements.

• A temporary traffic signal alternates northbound and southbound traffic, plus driveway and side street traffic, within roughly a 400-foot work zone. It runs around the clock through late 2026 and moves as work progresses. Signals currently sit between Corrine Street and E. Anna Street, with the northbound lane closed.
• Daytime flagging may be used Monday through Friday through late 2026. Eastbound and westbound single lane closures on Ocean Avenue at the A1A intersection may also be used.

Lake Worth Beach

North Dixie Highway And I-95 Lighting Project

A $2.5 million LED lighting retrofit along North Dixie Highway from north of Lucerne Avenue to the West Palm Beach Canal, and along I-95 from 12th Avenue South to 10th Avenue North. Work started July 7 and finishes in summer 2027.

• One lane closes intermittently on northbound and southbound North Dixie Highway between 16th Avenue North and the West Palm Beach Canal, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Aug. 31, for underground and utility work. Only one lane at a time.
• One lane closes intermittently between 17th Avenue South and Lucerne Avenue, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1 through Thursday, Sept. 3. Only one lane at a time.
• The northbound I-95 off-ramps from 12th Avenue South to 10th Avenue North may have one lane closed intermittently, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3, and again Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Thursday, Sept. 10, for electrical work.

A1A/South Ocean Boulevard, Lake Avenue To Ibis Way

The $5.9 million repaving and bike lane project is in its final stretch, wrapping this summer. The new pedestrian signal at the Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Course entrance, just south of Old S. Ocean Boulevard, is now fully operational. Push the button and it flashes yellow, then turns red to stop traffic.

• One lane of A1A may close with flagging, daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and nightly 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday night through Friday, for sod installation and final inspections.
• One lane of Lake Avenue just west of the A1A intersection may close in each direction on the same schedule.
• A temporary pedestrian detour route is in use through the work zone.

Town Of Palm Beach

A1A/South County Road, Emerald Beach Way To Royal Palm Way

The $8.2 million project has the busiest week in the county. Full intersection closures are coming to Royal Palm Way, Worth Avenue and Peruvian Avenue.

• One lane of A1A/S. County Road may close with flagging, daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and nightly 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday, for sidewalk replacement, concrete work, and conduit, drainage and mast arm installation.
• Intermittent lane closures with flagging on the north side of the Royal Palm Way intersection tonight, Friday, Aug. 28, roughly 10 p.m. to midnight, for paving.

Drilled shaft installation for new signal mast arms is underway from Golfview Road/Hammon Avenue to Royal Palm Way. Expect construction, sidewalk replacement and site restoration at the northwest and southwest corners of Royal Palm Way, the southeast corner of Fire Station #1, the northeast and southwest corners of Peruvian Avenue, the southwest corner of Worth Avenue, the northwest corner of Golfview Road, and the southeast corner of Hammon Avenue.

Sidewalk replacement from Brazilian Avenue to Royal Palm Way runs through September 2026 on both the east and west sides, daily and nightly, Sunday night through Friday. Crews are currently on the west side at Brazilian Avenue working north in small sections, though the sequence may change. Expect lane closures, flagging, blocked parking spaces in front of the work zone, and a temporary pedestrian detour.

Nighttime intersection closures for conduit installation, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., through mid-September. One intersection at a time, up to three nights each. The sequence can change for weather or unforeseen issues.

• Royal Palm Way, north side: Sunday night, Aug. 30 through Tuesday night, Sept. 1. Northbound detour: east on Royal Palm Way, north on S. Ocean Boulevard, west on Seaspray Avenue, back to northbound A1A. Southbound detour: west on Seaspray Avenue, south on Cocoanut Row, east on Royal Palm Way, back to southbound A1A.
• Royal Palm Way, south side: Tuesday night, Sept. 1 through Thursday night, Sept. 3. Northbound detour: east on Brazilian Avenue, north on S. Ocean Boulevard, west on Royal Palm Way, back to northbound A1A. Southbound detour: west on Royal Palm Way, south on Hibiscus Avenue, east on Brazilian Avenue, back to southbound A1A.
• Worth Avenue: early to mid-September, Sunday night through Thursday night. Work may start as early as Thursday night, Sept. 3, but is expected to begin Tuesday night, Sept. 8. No work Sunday, Sept. 6 or Monday, Sept. 7 for Labor Day. Northbound detour: east on Hammon Avenue, north on S. Ocean Boulevard, west on Chilean Avenue, back to northbound A1A. Southbound detour: east on Peruvian Avenue, south on S. Ocean Boulevard, west on Hammon Avenue, back to southbound A1A. Local access from westbound Worth Avenue as needed.
• Peruvian Avenue: after Worth Avenue wraps, early to mid-September, Sunday night through Thursday night. Northbound detour: east on Hammon Avenue, north on S. Ocean Boulevard, west on Chilean Avenue, back to northbound A1A. Southbound detour: U-turn at Chilean Avenue to northbound A1A, east on Australian Avenue, south on S. Ocean Boulevard, west on Worth Avenue, back to southbound A1A. Local access from eastbound Peruvian Avenue as needed.

Portions of sidewalks may also close during this work. Detour maps will be released as dates firm up, and the schedule is updated weekly.

Advance notice: Drainage installation is expected to start in mid-September at A1A and Peruvian Avenue. Northbound lanes between Peruvian Avenue and Chilean Avenue may close around the clock as needed. Northbound motorists would detour east on Peruvian Avenue, north on South Ocean Boulevard, and west on Chilean Avenue.

West Palm Beach

U.S. 1, Belvedere Road To Okeechobee Boulevard

A $3.9 million resurfacing that began in May and finishes in early 2027. It adds a signalized mid-block crosswalk north of Vallette Way and school zone flashing beacons near Flamingo Drive.

• One lane closes intermittently in each direction between Belvedere Road and Okeechobee Boulevard, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3, for concrete and electrical work.
• The northbound outside lane from Barcelona Road to Acacia Road is closed through the summer for drainage and concrete work.

I-95 At Forest Hill Boulevard

The northbound I-95 right lane at Forest Hill Boulevard closes 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 4, and again Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Thursday, Sept. 10, for barrier wall construction. Contact: Jackson Arnold, (561) 569-5344.

Florida’s Turnpike Widening At Jog Road

The Turnpike widening from north of Southern Boulevard to north of Okeechobee Boulevard has closed the left-turn lane from northbound N. Jog Road to the southbound Turnpike through late 2027 for bridge widening. N. Jog Road over the Turnpike drops from three lanes to two in both directions, with traffic shifted east.

• Northbound Jog Road drivers headed to the southbound Turnpike go west on Belvedere Road, then south on Pike Road.
• Belvedere Road drivers headed to the southbound Turnpike go south on Pike Road.

Okeechobee/Military And Forest Hill/Haverhill Lighting

A $2.3 million intersection lighting and signal project is scheduled to begin September 9 and finish in summer 2027. All lanes are open at both intersections this week.

Riviera Beach, Lake Park And North Palm Beach

U.S. 1, 59th Street To Northlake Boulevard

The $13.4 million corridor rebuild began in August 2025 and runs into late 2027.

• The sidewalk along northbound U.S. 1 from Access Road to W. 11th Street is closed through November 2026, and right-turn access to E. 11th Street is closed. For cruise terminal access, continue straight and use W. 13th Street.
• One outside or inside lane closes in each direction from 59th Street to Northlake Boulevard, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and again 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3.
• The center left-turn lane between Silver Beach Road and E. Kalima Drive is permanently closed for a reconstructed median. Drivers wanting to turn left or right in that stretch must continue to the nearest signalized intersection.

S.R. 710/Beeline Highway Reconstruction

At $148.2 million, this is the most expensive project in the county, and it does not finish until late 2029. Beeline goes from four lanes to six between Northlake and Blue Heron, the Turnpike bridge over it gets replaced, and a partial Continuous Flow Intersection is being built at Northlake. Signal timing is being monitored for temporary adjustments.

• Northwest-bound lanes from Military Trail to the Turnpike overpass are shifted. This pattern stays until summer 2027.
• Southeast-bound from Northlake Boulevard to Jog Road: one outside lane closed, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• From just south to just north of the Turnpike overpass: one inside lane closed in each direction, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• From Blue Heron Boulevard to Northlake Boulevard: one lane closed in each direction, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• At Northlake Boulevard: one inside lane closed in each direction, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• At Jog Road: one lane closed in each direction, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• At Haverhill Road: one inside lane closed in each direction, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• From Military Trail to Blue Heron Boulevard: one lane closed in each direction, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• Lane widths are reduced and westbound traffic is shifted to the median from just east of the Turnpike to Blue Heron Boulevard.
• The northwest ramp to eastbound Northlake Boulevard is closed until winter 2026. Continue on Beeline and turn right at the light instead.
• The southeast left-turn lane to eastbound Blue Heron Boulevard is closed around the clock through September 2026. Detour southeast on Beeline, north on Military Trail, east on Blue Heron. Emergency vehicles follow the same route, signage is posted, and all Blue Heron businesses stay open.

Side street impacts: Eastbound Blue Heron Boulevard from Beeline to Military Trail has one outside lane closed, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Northlake Boulevard both west and east of Beeline has one lane closed in each direction as needed, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Northlake lanes at the Beeline intersection are shifted and U-turns in both directions are unavailable until winter 2026.

Turnpike impacts: From south to just north of the Beeline overpass, one lane closes in each direction Sunday night 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Monday through Thursday nights 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., through September 2026. Southbound Turnpike lanes in that stretch are shifted until fall 2026.

U.S. 1 Earman River Bridge Replacement

The $13.7 million bridge replacement in North Palm Beach began in February 2025 and finishes in summer 2027.

• Southbound traffic from just south of Anchorage Drive to Northlake Boulevard is shifted onto the new northbound bridge while the southbound half is built. Two lanes stay open in each direction. Pedestrians are detoured to the east side sidewalk. Access to all businesses and residences on the west side stays open. This holds until spring 2027.
• The southbound outside lane from Anchorage Drive to Northlake Boulevard closes intermittently, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
• Southbound and northbound bike lanes end between Northlake Boulevard and Anchorage Drive.
• Signal operations may be affected and are being monitored.
• Boaters: The Earman River channel is closed through spring 2027. Mariners can take the Intracoastal north to the Lighthouse Bridge.

Palm Beach Gardens

Eastbound and westbound PGA Boulevard will have the left lane closed at the PGA Boulevard Drawbridge, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8 and Wednesday, Sept. 9, for gate receiver installation. Contact: Miguel Sosa, (954) 907-8973.

Wellington And Royal Palm Beach

S.R. 7/U.S. 441 At Lake Worth Road

A $3.4 million intersection project that began in April and finishes in early 2027, adding a dedicated northbound-to-eastbound right-turn lane.

• The northbound inside lane closes intermittently within the project limits, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3, for earthwork and equipment mobilization.
• The shopping plaza entrance and exit on northbound S.R. 7/U.S. 441 just south of Lake Worth Road is closed continuously through Friday, Sept. 4. Use the alternate entrance on Lake Worth Road.

Southern Boulevard Ramps At U.S. 441

An $8.3 million ramp reconstruction that started in February and finishes in summer 2027, adding dual right-turn lanes and triple left-turn lanes at the ramps.

• Northbound and southbound S.R. 7/U.S. 441 have one lane closed intermittently, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3.
• The northbound right-turn lane at the on-ramp to eastbound Southern Boulevard is closed continuously for bridge widening.
• The eastbound Southern Boulevard off-ramp U-turn lane at U.S. 441, which feeds the westbound on-ramp, is closed until fall 2026. Drivers headed for the westbound on-ramp continue east on Southern past the off-ramp and U-turn at Fairgrounds Road.
• The northeast and southeast sidewalks at U.S. 441 and Southern Boulevard are closed continuously until fall 2026. Pedestrians and cyclists on the northbound east sidewalk are detoured to the signal at Erica Boulevard, then north past Acme Road, under the Southern ramps, and across at the signal.

The Glades

S.R. 80/U.S. 98/U.S. 441 Full Closure At The Rail Crossing

Eastbound and westbound S.R. 80/U.S. 98/U.S. 441 is closed at the South Central Florida Express rail corridor through 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, for rail repairs. If crews need more time, the closure extends to Thursday, Sept. 3. This is a long detour, so plan for it.

• Eastbound drivers: north on S.R. 15/U.S. 98/U.S. 441, east on Muck City Road, east on Conners Highway, south on Hatton Highway to rejoin S.R. 80 east of the crossing.
• Westbound drivers: north on Hatton Highway, west on Conners Highway, west on Muck City Road, south on S.R. 15/U.S. 98/U.S. 441 to rejoin S.R. 80 west of the crossing.

U.S. 27 EAA Reservoir Canal Bridges

A $20.9 million project 27 miles north of the U.S. 27/I-75 interchange, building new bridges over a canal being dredged for the Everglades Agricultural Area reservoir. Completion is late 2028.

• Intermittent single lane closures in both directions within the project limits, Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Northbound and southbound mainline traffic is shifted east until Dec. 31.
• The speed limit within the project limits drops from 65 mph to 55 mph.

S.R. 700/Conners Highway Embankment Repairs

Conners Highway from Hatton Highway to S.R. 80/U.S. 98 has been closed since June 1 and stays closed throughout construction on the $1.3 million L-10 Canal slope repair, which finishes in late 2026.

• Northbound traffic detours onto S.R. 80/U.S. 98, right onto Hatton Highway, left onto Conners Highway.
• Southbound traffic detours right onto Hatton Highway, left onto S.R. 80/U.S. 98.
