BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A woman allegedly driving with crack is facing DUI and hit-and-run charges after police say she plowed into the back of a Tesla on North Dixie Highway, threw her SUV in reverse and hit a second car, then drove over the median and took off. Allison Michael Laga, 50, was arrested roughly two hours later, according to a Boca Raton Police please report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. The crash took place just before 5:50 p.m. on Aug. 30 at 2000 North Dixie Highway.
Both drivers who were hit were alone in their cars. Neither was hurt, and the damage to the grey Tesla Model Y and the white Toyota Camry was described as minor. One of the drivers told police the Tesla had recorded the whole thing. An officer reviewed the video and apparently watched a white Toyota SUV strike the Tesla from behind, then reverse into the Camry — with a woman in a red shirt and khaki shorts already out of the vehicle while it was still rolling backward. She got back in, made a U-turn over the median, and drove off east. A witness at the scene described the same sequence.
A second officer spotted an SUV matching the description, with the same tag and fresh crash damage, near 1300 South Federal Highway. Police say it was weaving inside its lane and the driver was riding the brakes hard. When the SUV was stopped, the affidavit says Laga got out without putting it in park and asked the officer, “Am I going to jail?” She said she had been in an accident and told the officer she was “feeling Kratomy, Kratom, Kratom.” She was sweating heavily, talking rapidly and making jittery movements, according to the report, and she was bleeding from her head, so she was taken to Boca Regional Hospital. On the driver’s seat, in plain view, an officer reported finding a glass pipe with residue and burnt copper wire inside — a combination the affidavit says is commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. A field test kit swabbed inside the pipe turned blue, indicating a positive reaction for cocaine.
At the hospital, Laga told an officer she had been driving a Toyota but did not know how she got there, then declined to answer anything further without a lawyer. Roadside sobriety exercises were never done because she was already receiving treatment, and a breath or urine apparently could not be performed because Laga was drifting in and out of consciousness. Police say she refused to give a blood sample after being read the implied consent warning.
Allison Laga is charged with two counts of DUI with property damage, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia — all misdemeanors. She was held without bond because of an open case. The charges are allegations, and Laga is presumed innocent.
