BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Boca Raton Police Department is now reviewing an officer-involved shooting from 2024. The Department issued this update Tuesday afternoon. We are publishing it in its entirety and unedited:
>> Following the conclusion of a state investigation, the Boca Raton Police Services Department will move forward with an administrative review of a December 2024 officer-involved shooting. On December 18, 2024, Boca Raton Police Officer Michael Super fired his weapon during an encounter with 39- year-old Morey Clemmons near 50 NW Second Avenue. Clemmons died at the scene.
In accordance with Boca Raton Police department protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) responded to the scene and conducted an independent investigation into the shooting.
Upon completion, FDLE provided its investigative findings to the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office. On August 26, 2026, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office notified the Boca Raton Police Services Department that after a thorough review of the FDLE investigation, they concluded that the use of deadly force by Officer Super was “objectively reasonable under the circumstances and his actions were legally justified.”
With the criminal investigation now complete, the Boca Raton Police Services Department can proceed with its administrative review. This review is separate from the criminal investigation and is intended to provide a thorough and objective examination of the circumstances surrounding the shooting, as well as compliance with the department’s policies and procedures.
