BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The man who allegedly pushed an ailing, elderly veteran at the Publix near Clint Moore Road and U.S. 441 in Boca Raton is set to return to court this month. Scott Otto Hirsch has an appearance set for September 24th.

As BocaNewsNow.com reported shortly after the arrest, Hirsch allegedly parked his SUV in a lane of traffic in the Publix shopping center, leading the elderly veteran to ask him to move his vehicle. Hirsch, according to a police report, parked his SUV, found the man, and pushed him. The elderly military veteran who told police he suffers from Parkinson’s disease and has issues with mobility fell to the ground. Hirsch is charged with battery on a senior over age 65 — that’s a felony in Florida. He’s free on bond but ordered to have no contact with the elderly man.

Hirsch told police following his arrest that he lives in The Oaks At Boca Raton, an upscale community across the street from the Publix. But property records show that Hirsch actually owns an $80,000 condo in Kings Point and is not listed as an owner of property in The Oaks.

Hirsch faced action from the Securities and Exchange Commission back in 2020 that led to a nearly $200,000 settlement agreement. Read that here. Hirsch is represented in the battery matters by defense attorney Frank Maister. The judge overseeing the case is Howard Coates, Jr.
