BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A longtime volunteer at the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum is getting statewide recognition. Michael McKeich has been selected to receive the 2026 Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Florida Association of Museums, the Historical Society of Palm Beach County announced.
McKeich has served as a docent and volunteer at the West Palm Beach museum for years, helping visitors, students, and residents connect with Palm Beach County’s history. The statewide honor recognizes his role in advancing the Historical Society’s mission to collect, preserve, and share that history through educational programs and day-to-day work with the public.
“Michael represents the very best of volunteerism,” said Jeremy Johnson, President and CEO of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. “His passion for history, generosity with his time, and ability to engage others have made an extraordinary impact on our organization and the thousands of people we serve. We could not be prouder to see his dedication recognized at the statewide level.”
The Florida Association of Museums will present the award Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 6 p.m. during its annual conference awards reception. The ceremony will be held at McKeich’s home museum, the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum at 300 N. Dixie Highway in downtown West Palm Beach.
