BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach man remains in critical condition after his e-bike slammed into the side of an SUV near Temple Torah of Boynton Beach on Thursday evening.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that 46-year-old Thomas Klett was riding his e-bike southbound on the east sidewalk of Jog Road around 4:29 p.m., approaching the entrance to 8600 S. Jog Rd. At the same time, a 2025 Lincoln Corsair driven by Alicia M. Laurence-Bersch, 64, of Boynton Beach, was headed southbound in the left-turn lane and turning into that same entrance.

Investigators say Klett failed to stop and clear the roadway as the car turned in. He entered the roadway at a high rate of speed, and the front of his e-bike struck the driver’s side rear door of the Corsair. Klett was ejected from the e-bike in the crash.

He was rushed to Delray Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition, deputies say. Laurence-Bersch and her passenger, Shaun M. Bersch, 39, also of Boynton Beach, were not hurt. The crash remains under investigation.
