DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 73-year-old resident of the Kings Point Delray Beach senior community is facing a felony charge after police say he deliberately drove into a stranger in the parking lot of “The Boys” farmers market, telling investigators he “stepped on the gas” the moment the man walked in front of his car.
Glenn Stuart Hartman of “Burgandy N” in Kings Point was arrested Saturday and charged with committing an act that could cause death, according to a Delray Beach report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. Officers were called to the parking lot of Boys Farmer’s Market on South Military Trail after reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Arriving officers found the victim sitting on a curb with a visible injury to his lower left leg.
The victim, who lives in Boynton Beach, told police he had parked on the west side of the lot and was walking toward the store entrance when a white vehicle appeared to aim directly at him. He said he managed to push off the car, injuring his hand, but the vehicle still struck his lower leg.
Investigators later interviewed Hartman at Delray Medical Center, where Hartman allegedly admitted he woke up that day depressed and, for the first time, wanted to hurt someone other than himself. He said he drove to the market, backed into a parking spot and waited for someone to walk in front of his car — and admitted he was not there to shop.
In addition to the felony charge, Hartman was also placed under Florida’s Baker Act by a doctor at Delray Medical Center after he told the doctor that he had gone to the market intending to target someone because of homicidal thoughts. Hartman remains in custody early Tuesday morning and is the 24th resident of Kings Point to be jailed this year, according to unofficial BocaNewsNow.com numbers. He is the 105th Kings Point arrested since 2023.
