UPDATE #4 at 8:28 a.m. — Florida Highway Patrol confirms all information just provided to us by Boca Raton Fire Rescue and adds the investigation continues.
UPDATE #3 at 8:12 a.m. — Boca Raton Fire Rescue just issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com: “At approximately 6:03 a.m. today, two Boca Raton Fire Rescue units responded to a vehicle accident in the southbound express lanes of I‑95. Shortly before clearing that incident, about 12–15 minutes later, one of the fire trucks was struck from behind, resulting in extensive damage.
Three firefighters were on board at the time of the collision. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and the other two were taken for evaluation as a precaution. The driver of the vehicle that struck the fire truck was transported to Delray Medical Center as a trauma alert. So there were 4 patients total.
Both the fire truck and the civilian vehicle sustained heavy damage. The Florida Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.”

UPDATE #1 at 6:48 a.m. — New information: The fire truck was struck in the rear by the teenage driver of another vehicle. It’s not immediately clear what type of vehicle the teen was driving. The teen was seriously injured and rushed to Delray Medical Center. One Boca Raton firefighter was also injured and transported to Boca Raton Regional Hospital. We expect Florida Highway Patrol to investigate the incident.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Traffic delays are mounting Wednesday at 6:20 a.m. after a Boca Raton Fire Truck was struck by a passing truck on northbound I-95. The incident took place near the Yamato Road ramps.
The fire truck was on the scene to assist other vehicles involved in a crash. Initial information — subject to change — indicates no Boca Raton Fire Rescue team member was injured. Injuries are unclear for the people involved in the crash.
Additional fire rescue units are being sent to the scene. We do not know if the truck that struck the fire truck remained on the scene or continued driving. It’s unclear if the driver of the striking vehicle knew that a crash had occurred.
Expect delays to continue well into the morning rush. We’ll update when we receive more information.
