NO ATONING: FDOT Unapologetic For Yom Kippur Week Slow-Downs In Boca, Delray, Boynton, Beyond…

(BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It may be Yom Kippur week, but the Jewish High Holliday that’s all about atoning isn’t leading to any change in FDOT road closures, detours, and general slow downs. Here’s what you can expect this week:

Major FDOT Highway Projects

Interstate 95

I-95 at Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange ($64 million, early 2029 completion).

• I-95: one lane closed in each direction starting at 8 p.m., and up to three lanes each way from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. A fourth lane may close overnight as needed.
• The outside deceleration lane and shoulder approaching the Boynton Beach Boulevard exit ramps stay closed in both directions through late 2026.
• Full ramp closures are possible from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. Only one ramp at the interchange can close at a time.
• Northbound exit ramp closed: detour via the northbound exit to Woolbright Road, east to U.S. 1, then north to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
• Southbound exit ramp closed: detour via the southbound exit to Gateway Boulevard, east to U.S. 1, then south to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
• Northbound entrance ramp closed: take Boynton Beach Boulevard east to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then north to Gateway Boulevard to reach I-95.
• Southbound entrance ramp closed: take Boynton Beach Boulevard east to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then south to Woolbright Road to reach I-95.
• Eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard drops from three through lanes to two between NW 8th Street and east of W. Industrial Avenue through late 2026. The northbound outside turn lane on NW 8th Street at Boynton Beach Boulevard is also closed, leaving one lane for right, left and through traffic.
• Boynton Beach Boulevard between Old Boynton Road and NW 3rd Avenue may have one lane closed in each direction, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• The westbound turn lane to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp may close 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. Drivers can U-turn at W. Industrial Avenue to get back to the ramp.

U.S. 1/North Dixie Highway and I-95 lighting project, Lake Worth Beach ($2.5 million, summer 2027).

• U.S. 1/North Dixie Highway: one lane closed intermittently in each direction between 2nd Avenue North and the West Palm Beach Canal, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Thursday, Sept. 24, for underground and utility work.
• I-95 northbound off-ramps from 12th Avenue South to 10th Avenue North: one lane may close intermittently, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 20 through Thursday, Sept. 24, for electrical work.

Southern Palm Beach County (Boca Raton, Highland Beach, Delray Beach)

Boca gets a lane taken away for bike lanes. Delray’s Atlantic Avenue widening is in the final striping stage, which means daytime lane closures all week.

U.S. 1 lane repurposing and resurfacing, Boca Raton ($6.3 million, late 2027)

• The project, from Camino Real to NE 8th Street/Mizner Boulevard, eliminates the 11-foot outside lane between Camino Real and SE Mizner Boulevard/SE 5th Street to make room for 7-foot separated bike lanes and wider sidewalks.
• Northbound U.S. 1 traffic between Camino Real and SE 5th Street/SE Mizner Boulevard is shifted to the two left lanes, its final pattern.
• One northbound and one southbound lane at U.S. 1 and Camino Real will close intermittently, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25, for signalization work.

S.R. 806/Atlantic Avenue reconstruction, Delray Beach and Boynton Beach ($26 million, summer 2028)

• U.S. 441/S.R. 7: one lane may close in each direction at various points between Rio Grande Avenue and Tivoli Isles Boulevard, and south of Atlantic Avenue to just south of 105th Drive South, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for final striping.
• Atlantic Avenue: one eastbound and one westbound lane may close from Lyons Road to the Turnpike, and one lane in each direction between U.S. 441 and Lyons Road, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for final striping.
• One eastbound turn lane on Atlantic Avenue, from the Wawa back entrance to U.S. 441, may close 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for signalization.
• Smith Sundy Road: one lane in each direction may close between Storage Zone Gate and Atlantic Avenue, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flaggers will direct traffic.
• The northbound sidewalk between Atlantic Avenue and Saturnia Isles Boulevard is closed. Pedestrians are detoured to the southbound sidewalk.

Central Palm Beach County (Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Royal Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach)

S.R. 704/Okeechobee Boulevard at Military Trail and S.R. 882/Forest Hill Boulevard at Haverhill Road intersection lighting, West Palm Beach ($2.3 million, summer 2027)

• All lanes are open on both roads. Work started Sept. 9.

S.R. 5/U.S. 1 resurfacing, West Palm Beach ($3.9 million, early 2027)

• Northbound and southbound U.S. 1 may have one lane closed intermittently between Belvedere Road and Okeechobee Boulevard, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25, for concrete and electrical work.
• The northbound outside lane from Barcelona Road to Acacia Road is closed through fall 2026 for drainage and concrete work.

S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard from Lake Avenue to Ibis Way, Lake Worth Beach and Palm Beach ($5.9 million)

• One lane of A1A/South Ocean Boulevard may close with flaggers, daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and nightly 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday night through Friday, for final inspections.
• One lane in each direction on Lake Avenue just west of A1A may close on the same schedule.
• A temporary pedestrian detour may be in use through the work zone.
• The new pedestrian signal at the Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Course crosswalk is fully operational. It flashes yellow, then goes red when the button is pushed.

S.R. A1A/South County Road from Emerald Beach Way to Royal Palm Way, Palm Beach ($8.2 million, late 2026)

• One lane may close with flaggers, daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and nightly 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday, and Saturday as needed.
• The A1A and Peruvian Avenue intersection may close 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night, Sept. 20, through Thursday night, Sept. 24, for conduit installation.
• Northbound A1A traffic detours via eastbound Hammon Avenue, northbound South Ocean Boulevard and westbound Chilean Avenue back to northbound A1A.
• Southbound A1A traffic detours via a U-turn at Chilean Avenue, eastbound Australian Avenue, southbound South Ocean Boulevard and westbound Worth Avenue back to southbound A1A.
• Northbound lanes and parking between Peruvian Avenue and Chilean Avenue may close around the clock through Friday afternoon, Sept. 25, for drainage work.
• Sidewalk replacement on both sides of A1A from Brazilian Avenue to Royal Palm Way continues through September. When crews work the west side, the southbound lane and parking between Royal Palm Way and Brazilian Avenue may close.

Northern Palm Beach County (Riviera Beach, Lake Park, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach, Jupiter, Tequesta)

The Beeline Highway is a $148.2 million project with a finish line in late 2029.

U.S. 1/S.R. 5 roadway improvements, Riviera Beach, Lake Park and North Palm Beach ($13.4 million, late 2027)

• Northbound and southbound U.S. 1 from 59th Street to Northlake Boulevard will have one lane closed 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and again 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
• The northbound sidewalk from Access Road to W. 11th Street is closed through November. Right-turn access to E. 11th Street is closed too. Cruise terminal traffic should continue straight and use W. 13th Street.
• The center left-turn lane on U.S. 1/Broadway between Silver Beach Road and E. Kalima Drive is permanently closed for a raised median. Drivers must turn at the nearest signalized intersection.
• Next week: drainage work at U.S. 1/Broadway and Blue Heron Boulevard on Monday, Sept. 28, and Tuesday, Sept. 29, 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Closures include a single lane in each direction on U.S. 1, the southbound left turn to eastbound Blue Heron, the eastbound lanes and left-turn lane on Blue Heron, and the westbound Blue Heron left turn to southbound U.S. 1.
• Detours during that work: southbound U.S. 1 traffic goes to eastbound E. 28th Street, then southbound Lake Shore Drive, to reach eastbound Blue Heron. Eastbound Blue Heron traffic goes to southbound Avenue E, eastbound W. 22nd Street, then northbound U.S. 1. Westbound Blue Heron traffic goes southbound on Avenue E, then eastbound W. 25th Street to reach southbound U.S. 1.

S.R. 710/Beeline Highway reconstruction, Palm Beach Gardens, Riviera Beach and West Palm Beach ($148.2 million, late 2029)

• Northwest-bound lanes from Military Trail to the Turnpike overpass are shifted. The pattern stays until summer 2027.
• From Jog Road to the Turnpike overpass, one inside lane is closed in each direction, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. From Blue Heron Boulevard to Northlake Boulevard, one lane in each direction is closed 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• Northwest-bound Beeline from Jog Road to Northlake will lose one inside lane 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21. Northlake at the railroad crossing will have one lane closed in each direction at a time, same hours.
• Blue Heron Boulevard eastbound from Beeline to Military Trail will have one outside lane closed 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• The Beeline northwest ramp to eastbound Northlake Boulevard is closed until winter 2026. Drivers can continue on Beeline and turn right at the light.
• The southeast Beeline left-turn lane to eastbound Blue Heron is closed around the clock through September. The detour runs via southeast Beeline, north on Military Trail and east on Blue Heron.
• Northlake Boulevard lanes at Beeline are shifted, and U-turns are not available in either direction until winter 2026.
• Florida’s Turnpike near the Beeline overpass will have one lane closed in each direction Sunday night 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Monday through Thursday nights 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through September. Southbound Turnpike lanes remain shifted until fall 2026.

U.S. 1/S.R. 5 Earman River Bridge replacement, North Palm Beach ($13.7 million, summer 2027)

• Southbound U.S. 1 traffic is on the new northbound bridge, with two lanes open in each direction, until spring 2027.
• The southbound outside lane from Anchorage Drive to Northlake Boulevard will close intermittently, daily 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The Earman River channel is closed through spring 2027. Boaters can take the Intracoastal Waterway north to the Lighthouse Bridge.

Western Palm Beach County (Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, South Bay, Belle Glade, Pahokee, Canal Point)

Four projects out west, including one road that is simply closed. Conners Highway between Hatton Highway and S.R. 80/U.S. 98 has been shut since June 1.

S.R. 7/U.S. 441 resurfacing at S.R. 802/Lake Worth Road ($3.4 million, early 2027)

• One lane on northbound and southbound U.S. 441 will close intermittently, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25, one direction at a time.
• The shopping plaza entrance and exit along northbound U.S. 441, south of Lake Worth Road, is closed continuously through Friday, Sept. 25. Drivers can use the plaza’s Lake Worth Road access.

S.R. 80/Southern Boulevard ramps and S.R. 7/U.S. 441 ramp improvements ($8.3 million, summer 2027)

• One lane on U.S. 441 will close intermittently in each direction, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25.
• The northbound right-turn lane at the U.S. 441 on-ramp to eastbound Southern Boulevard is closed continuously for bridge widening.
• The eastbound Southern Boulevard off-ramp U-turn lane at U.S. 441, which leads to the westbound Southern Boulevard on-ramp, is closed until fall 2026. Drivers continue east past the U.S. 441 off-ramp and U-turn at Fairgrounds Road.
• The northeast and southeast sidewalks on U.S. 441 and Southern Boulevard are closed until fall 2026. Pedestrians and cyclists are detoured to the signalized intersection at Erica Boulevard.

U.S. 27/S.R. 25 Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir canal bridges ($20.9 million, late 2028)

• Intermittent single-lane closures in each direction, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25.
• Mainline traffic is shifted east until Dec. 31. The speed limit within the project drops from 65 mph to 55 mph.

S.R. 700/Conners Highway embankment repairs ($1.3 million, late 2026)

• Conners Highway from Hatton Highway to S.R. 80/U.S. 98 is closed throughout construction.
• Northbound traffic detours onto S.R. 80/U.S. 98, right onto Hatton Highway, then left onto Conners Highway. Southbound traffic goes right onto Hatton Highway, then left onto S.R. 80/U.S. 98.

Florida’s Turnpike & Other Notable Closures

The other 8 items on FDOT’s list are the maintenance, utility and permit jobs that do not get a project name but still get a lane closed.

• I-95 northbound at Forest Hill Boulevard, West Palm Beach: right lane closed Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25, for barrier wall construction.
• I-95 from north of Investment Lane in West Palm Beach to south of PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens: up to three lanes closed in each direction, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 20 through Thursday, Sept. 24, for asphalt coring.
• Florida’s Turnpike widening, Southern Boulevard to Okeechobee Boulevard: the left-turn lane from northbound N. Jog Road to the southbound Turnpike is closed through late 2027 for bridge widening. Jog Road over the Turnpike is reduced from three lanes to two in each direction and shifted east. Northbound Jog Road traffic heading for the southbound Turnpike is directed west on Belvedere Road, then south on Pike Road.
• Ocean Ridge, A1A/Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway: around-the-clock lane closures from just south of Corrine Street to just north of S.R. 804/Ocean Avenue through late 2026 for water main work. A temporary traffic signal alternates traffic in a roughly 400-foot stretch, currently from E. Anna Street to Edith Street. Beach access stays open. Crews are on site Monday through Saturday.
• Boynton Beach, westbound S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard at Lyons Road: one lane closed 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20 to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, for asphalt repair.
• West Palm Beach, westbound S.R. 802/Lake Worth Road at Lyons Road: one lane closed 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21 to 4 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, for asphalt repair.
• West Palm Beach, southbound Congress Avenue at Collin Drive: one lane closed 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 to 4 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, for asphalt repair.
• West Palm Beach, northbound S.R. 809/North Military Trail from Rapids Waterpark to Westroads Drive: one lane closed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25, for sidewalk repair.
