BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A California man is facing a long list of felony charges after Boca Raton Police say he went car to car at a condominium complex, forced his way into the clubhouse, and was carrying a 9mm handgun when officers caught up with him Sunday.
Cory Richard Hill, 39, of Anaheim, is accused of targeting the San De Vance Condos at 280 NW 67th St. Surveillance video — according to an arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com — shows a man pulling on the door handles of a Mustang and a GMC SUV around 3 p.m., leaving, then coming back about 40 minutes later and getting into a Kia SUV through the passenger door. The Kia’s owner, tipped off by a neighbor, confronted him. Police say the man had a screwdriver in his hand and was trying to start the vehicle before he bailed out the driver’s side and walked off with two backpacks. The damage to the ignition is estimated at roughly $3,000. Around the same time, a resident told police she found her purse dumped on the floor after stepping into the clubhouse restroom, with her iPhone and a pink Canon camera gone.
Officers stopped Hill a short distance away at 6161 NW 2nd Ave., and the Kia owner identified him. According to the probable cause affidavit, his backpacks held a Taurus 9mm handgun, bolt cutters, screwdrivers, knives, a glass-break hammer, wrenches and a Milwaukee drill. Police say a flashlight in the bag was hiding baggies of what tested positive for fentanyl, and they also found a glass pipe with fentanyl residue and a cartridge of THC wax. His wallet allegedly contained a Social Security card, an EBT card and several credit cards belonging to other people. The resident’s pink Canon camera was inside the smaller backpack. Hill refused to answer questions.
He is charged with armed burglary of a dwelling or structure, three counts of armed burglary of a conveyance, grand theft auto, criminal mischief over $1,000, possession of fentanyl, possession of THC, possession of a firearm during a felony, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of burglary tools. Hill was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and remains held on more than $70,000 bond.
