DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — BocaNewsNow.com has obtained new information regarding the somewhat bizarre shooting report from Saturday night in the West Delray Beach community of Seven Bridges. As you may recall from our initial reporting, the shooting happened, then didn’t happen, then was ambiguous at best. Palm Beach County’s automated crime reporting system alerted the area to a shooting in the area — but then PBSO officially said there was no shooting.
Here’s what BocaNewsNow.com has learned after further investigation Monday morning:
A person who lives in Seven Bridges — or uses Seven Bridges as a local address — apparently sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday evening. It is unclear whether the gunshot wound was intentional or accidental. That person then transported himself to an area hospital for treatment.
The hospital is required to report gunshot injuries to the police, and that’s exactly what happened. The case was logged as a “shooting” and the address given by the injured person was listed as a Seven Bridges address. That broad information was then transmitted by PBSO’s community alert system to the public.
To be clear: there was no active shooter. There was no threat. There was apparently no crime committed. Just a person apparently handling a gun that discharged in the general direction of the person holding the gun. We do not know this person’s condition on Monday, but we reiterate that the person self-transported to the hospital.
