BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com Tuesday that deputies rescued three people when their boat capsized. Here is the official statement:
>> What started as a quiet night at Port Everglades quickly turned into a race to rescue three people from a capsized boat.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a 17-foot Boston Whaler vessel that had capsized approximately two miles offshore from the Port Everglades Inlet. Broward Sheriff’s Office Marine and Harbor Patrol deputies were notified to respond, as well as Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
BSO Marine Patrol Deputy Alex Beer and BSO Harbor Patrol Deputy Rajendra Sukhdeo arrived first on scene, quickly located the flipped vessel and rescued the three individuals from the ocean. Investigators say the victims were using a light on their phone, which assisted deputies Beer and Sukhdeo in locating them.
Thanks to the swift response, a potential tragedy was averted. All three young men were brought to safety without injury, and Sea Tow later recovered the vessel.<<
