BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Florida Turnpike between Hillsboro Boulevard and SW 18th Street is open again as of 5:30 a.m. following an overnight crash involving a tractor trailer and a car.
Initial information obtained by BocaNewsNow.com indicates the tractor trailer crashed into an unoccupied car on the side of the northbound Turnpike around 2 a.m. That crash led to fire — and a massive response by both Broward County Fire Rescue and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
Once on the scene, first responders found the vehicles on fire but quickly determined no one sustained serious injuries. The car itself was unoccupied. The two people in the tractor trailer apparently sustained only minor injuries.
The Turnpike northbound was closed for nearly 90 minutes as the fire was extinguished and vehicles towed from the scene. The crash should not be an issue for the morning commute.
