CORAL SPRINGS, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A federal jury in Miami has convicted a Margate man for his role in a murder-for-hire scheme that left Suren Seetal shot to death in November 2023, his body later dumped in the Everglades.

Prosecutors say Avin Seetaram, 27, known as “Smalls,” teamed up with Somjeet Christopher Singh, 32, of Coral Springs, known as “Lil Chris,” to have Seetal killed over business dealings. The first attempt came in July 2023. The pair tracked Seetal using an electronic device placed in the vehicle he was driving, then sent a gunman and a driver after him. The gunman opened fire, and Seetal shot back. Nobody was hit. Both men fled.

The second plot worked. On Nov. 2, 2023, Seetal was lured to a business location where a newly hired gunman was waiting, and he was ambushed and killed. According to evidence presented at trial, Seetaram and Singh paid the gunman as promised and worked to cover up the crime, including moving Seetal’s body and disposing of it in the Everglades. “This was not a spontaneous act of violence,” said U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida. “It was a deliberate, persistent, and cold-blooded murder-for-hire scheme.”

Seetaram was convicted of murder-for-hire conspiracy, murder for hire, stalking resulting in death, discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, conspiracy to use and carry a firearm during a crime of violence, and causing a death through the use of a firearm during a crime of violence. He faces up to life in federal prison, with a federal judge set to determine his sentence. Singh previously pleaded guilty to eight counts, including kidnapping and obstruction of justice, and U.S. District Judge Roy K. Altman sentenced him to life in federal prison.
