LANTANA, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Fifteen months after a pedestrian was struck and left lying in a Lantana front yard, the driver is in custody. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says the State Attorney’s Office authorized an arrest warrant on Sept. 30 for Eliseo Cabrera Alvarenga, 27, of Lantana, and he was taken into custody Monday, Oct. 5.

The crash happened at 11:36 p.m. on July 3, 2025, on Ridge Road near Flamingo Drive. According to PBSO, Cabrera Alvarenga was driving a 2020 Honda Civic southbound when he failed to see Quincy Kellyn Montgomery, 22, of Lake Worth Beach. Montgomery was walking north in the travel lanes wearing a non-reflective blue shirt and tan pants. An overhead street lamp stood near the intersection.

The front left of the Civic hit Montgomery, throwing him onto the car. Police say he vaulted 96 feet southeast and landed in the front yard of 827 Ridge Road with serious injuries. The driver fled.

Lantana Police asked PBSO’s Vehicular Homicide Investigations unit to take the case. Investigators eventually located the Honda and developed suspect information through its registered owner. DNA results came back June 22, 2026, and the warrant followed about three months later.
