BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The man shot and killed by a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tuesday afternoon in West Boynton Beach is now identified as as Gregory Dobkins. We are publishing an arrest photo of Dobkins from 2021.
This is the statement issued to BocaNewsNow.com by PBSO on Wednesday: “The suspect has been identified as Gregory Dobkins, DOB: 10/23/1974 of West Palm Beach. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division are actively investigating the incident.”
Dobkins allegedly led police on a chase Tuesday which ended near Woolbright Road and Jog Road. Dobkins, according to police, fled his vehicle which was allegedly spotted as part of a pizza delivery hold-up. With a police chopper above, Dobkins — police say — had something wrapped around his hand or arm that looked like a gun. Police ordered him to drop whatever it was and he refused. Police fired non-leathal weapons at him which failed to do anything. He was then shot and killed.
Booking records indicate that Dobkins was previously arrested for assault, theft, drugs, and more. He was days away from his 52nd birthday. Police say he was living in West Palm Beach at the time he was killed.
