DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A construction worker was seriously injured Friday afternoon when a truck apparently slammed into a construction crane on Atlantic Avenue near Northeast 7th Avenue.
It’s unclear why the truck hit the crane. The man on the crane — who was tethered to the crane and at roughly I the second floor of the project — plummeted to the ground. He apparently hit the ground hard.
Delray Beach Fire Rescue’s “technical rescue” team rushed to the scene. They freed the man from the tether and rushed him to Delray Medical Center. The crane, as you can see in the photo by reader “Kay Bartmann” sustained serious damage.
We have asked Delray Beach Police for information regarding the man’s condition and whether the truck driver will face charges. We do know there is a diesel fuel clean-up underway as of 3:40 p.m.
