DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives arrested a driver in connection with a fatal May crash in Deerfield Beach. The investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling over three times the posted speed limit. BocaNewsNow.com was first to report on the crash shortly after it happened.
Detectives say Jean Claude Saint Cyr was driving a 2023 Land Rover Discovery north on Northeast Third Avenue around 1:39 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, when he rear-ended a 2023 Nissan Rogue stopped at the stop sign at Northeast 44th Street. The Land Rover ricocheted into the southbound lanes and hit a 2015 Nissan NV2000 stopped at the same intersection, then tumbled and rolled northwest before coming to rest mid-block near the west sidewalk. The impact ripped off its entire front axle and threw its engine all the way to Northeast 44th Court.
Passenger Fedeline Alexis Saint Cyr was ejected as the Land Rover rolled and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Rogue rolled too, ending up against the front porch of a home on the northeast corner. Its driver, Antwon Nahshon Brand, was thrown out and found partially under the vehicle. The NV2000 was launched backward into the southbound lanes. All three drivers were taken to Broward Health North.
Investigators determined the Land Rover was going between roughly 98 and 102 mph in a 30 mph zone, and that excessive speed contributed to the crash. Saint Cyr turned himself in at the BSO Main Jail on Monday, Oct. 19. He faces one count of vehicular homicide, one count of reckless driving with serious bodily injury and seven counts of reckless driving with property damage or personal injury.
