DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — No one was injured Wednesday evening around 8 p.m. when a Tri-Rail train hit an SUV that was apparently disabled on the tracks near Atlantic and Congress.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue rushed to the scene but immediately confirmed that no one on the train was injured and the occupants of the SUV were out of the vehicle.

It’s unclear what led to the SUV becoming disabled on the train tracks, or why the driver didn’t immediately call police to let them know there was a vehicle on the train tracks. The train was heading southbound when it struck — and significantly damaged — the SUV.

The police investigation continues this morning. No word yet if the SUV driver will be cited.
