BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is recruiting experienced cops for multiple Special Agent jobs across the state. The ones in Palm Beach County pay more.
Base salary is $68,796.26. Agents assigned to Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties get an extra $4,999.80 a year, bringing their pay to $73,796.06. Current openings are in the Miami, Tampa Bay, Fort Myers, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Pensacola areas. Applications close Nov. 22.
Applicants need four years of sworn law enforcement experience, two of them investigative, and current law enforcement certification, with preference going to officers certified in Florida. Finalists must pass a physical agility test — a mile-and-a-half run, sit-ups and push-ups — plus a drug screen, physical exam, psychological evaluation, writing assessment and oral interview. The background check digs into credit history and the criminal records of an applicant’s immediate family and roommates. New agents must live within 50 miles of an FDLE office and sign a training reimbursement agreement.
FDLE Special Agents are sworn officers who investigate domestic security threats, public corruption and multi-jurisdictional organized crime. They also track fugitives, seize illegally obtained assets, help locate missing persons and protect the governor and visiting dignitaries. The agency employs more than 2,000 people at its Tallahassee headquarters and seven regional operations centers. Applications are being taken at jobs.myflorida.com under position number 71000829.
