BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A child on a bicycle was struck and killed overnight on Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton.

BocaNewsNow.com has learned two children were riding bike in the area of I-95 when one of them was struck by a car that is identified as a sports-type car. It is not immediately clear whether the kids were biking in the middle of the road or near the sidewalk. It’s also unclear why they were on bikes on Palmetto Park Road just before 1 a.m. when the crash took place.

Boca Raton Police and Boca Raton Fire Rescue rushed to the scene but quickly determined there was nothing that could be done to save the child. Palmetto Park Road was closed between I-95 and Military Trail until 8 a.m. this morning as police ran their investigation into the fatal crash.

We’ll update once we learn more officially from Boca PD. We do not have an age of the child as of 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

  1. So sad. What concerns me are all these kids all over riding these electric bikes. Some have no reflectors hence making it impossible to see them. Even on the side roads in developments. I’m down on Sandalfoot and these kids ride in the middle of the road with no regard to safety with cars coming from each direction. What is worse in my opinion are the parents that don’t think of these things before allowing their kids to roam freely.

  2. I predicted this was going to happen since I saw gangs of kids (teenagers) roaming Boca. Running red lights. Doing acrobatics on their bikes. Endangering walkers and traffic.

The 23-year-old in that Corvette was probably wasted. And should be charged. But who are the parents of these kids who allow them to roam the streets alone and unsupervised.

I witnessed them running over a disabled person at Mizner Park. They ran me and my family twice on the sidewalk, and while crossing the street, and when confronted – they used profanities, curses and aggression towards us.

One day while walking my dog, they ran me over, then sped up to escape and one of them crashed into a parked Range Rover, fell on the ground with his entire arm bent and bleeding. I alerted security again but to no avail. I’ve alerted the Boca cops standing at Mizner Park – no avail.

These cops only move when tragedy strikes. And, it’s too late.
