DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A traffic stop over a stop sign turned into six drug-related charges for a Boynton Beach man, including one involving fentanyl. Peter Simo, 30, was arrested early Oct. 29 in Delray Beach. BocaNewsNow.com obtained the arrest report early Monday.

According to the probable cause affidavit, an officer watched Simo’s black Infiniti fail to stop properly at the four-way stop at SE 1st Street and SE 4th Avenue. Simo, alone in the car, was allegedly reaching behind the front passenger seat as the officer walked up, the affidavit says. The officer then spotted a sheathed fixed-blade knife between the driver’s seat and center console and reported a strong marijuana odor while leaning in to secure it. Simo said he had been reaching for a can, that his medical marijuana card had expired and that the smell came from earlier use.

Police then searched the car. They reported finding an open, cold can of an alcoholic beverage behind the passenger seat, plus vials, capsules, a loose orange pill and a hand-rolled cigarette. Field tests came back positive for 2.23 grams of marijuana, 0.72 grams of marijuana wax, 0.18 grams of fentanyl and 0.41 grams of ecstasy/MDMA, according to the affidavit, which also lists one 30 mg amphetamine/dextroamphetamine pill.

The charges cover the fentanyl, MDMA, marijuana wax, marijuana under 20 grams, amphetamine without a prescription and drug paraphernalia. Simo was booked into jail and later released on $22,000 bond.
